Lynn Woodburry will be our featured speaker for this meeting.  He will be providing insight to the Design Community in the following areas:

  1. How does being an architect/developer differ from the “normal” architectural career?
  2. Specifications for a developer differ from those required for a typical project.  Please describe the difference between the two.
  3. How does an architectural firm obtain design services contracts from a company that has its own design staff?  What are the expectations of such?
  4. How are budgets established for individual projects based on rate of return?  How may architects better involve themselves in this budget process?
  5. Is the basic method used by developers the design/build/bridge for outside design services, and if not what is the best method to better serve the developer?
  6. How may the experiences provided by working with a developer serve the design field at large in providing services that are cost effective and yet provide projects that are servicing the public with sense/scale of space and appearance?
  7. What if anything would you have changed (due to what you know now) to the approach that you have to architecture/the business of architecture, and its related obligation to the public, for health, safety, welfare, and the preservation of our natural resources?
