"Use & Placement of Detectable Warning Panels"

By Bill Naugle

Mr. Naugle, with N-Direct, manufacturer's representative for Masco CASTinTACT Detectable Warning Panels, will share his experiences concerning the use and placement of detectable warning panels in curb ramps and other necessary locations.  He is well qualified to address the importance of detectable warnings for both the blind and mobility-impaired communities.  His background also enables him to discuss installation, structural integrity, and long-term durability issues and concerns.

In the last five years, he has traveled the Western US presenting and discussing this topic, including all the legal issues regarding compliance with ADAAG 4.29.2, with local municipalities, architects, and civil engineering firms.

President's Report

The new CSI year is here!  Plans have been under way throughout the summer to help to put together the schedule of events for this year.  The programs this year will provide an opportunity for you to gain new insights for the worlds of both commercial design and construction.

I wish to express appreciation to all who helped to make last year's CSI 2005-2006 a successful year.  Many CSI chapter members attended the luncheons and found them to be rewarding.  The Southwest region conference, held at Snowbird was a great success, too.   A small band of highly dedicated Salt Lake Chapter CSI members worked hard to make it a great success.

My own experience with CSI has been very rewarding.  The CSI Salt Lake Chapter has given me many opportunities to interact with design professionals throughout the intermountain west.   It is hoped that you have had the same experience.  If not, the new 2006-2007 year will present this opportunity for your benefit.

I look forward to seeing you this year.  Come renew acquaintances make new acquaintances, and participate!

Greg Adams, CSI
Salt Lake Chapter, President
